I've made this so many times that I have to share it! I hated broccoli for years because all I knew was flavorless, mushy steamed broccoli. This is not that.
It's steamed broccoli you'll actually WANT to eat.
2 bunches broccoli (about 2 pounds), cut into small pieces
2 Tbs. unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp kosher salt + freshly ground black pepper
1. Cook the broccoli in a large saucepan of lightly salted boiling water until crisp-tender, 2 to 4 minutes. Drain. Leave broccoli in the colander while you work on the garlic butter.
2. Reduce the heat to low. Add butter and garlic to the saucepan and cook until the garlic is softened, 1 to 2 minutes. Add salt and a few grinds of pepper.
3. Return broccoli to sauce pan and toss with tongs.
